Miguel Santos is an epic fantasy writer who has been reading the genre since he was a kid, and worldbuilding for almost as long. What finally put him in front of the page wasn't a single book or a single moment — it was the slow realization that the genre he loved kept setting its biggest stories in the same place, and that his own history had epics in it too.
That realization became Mesozaca: a secondary world mirroring the Age of Conquest era of North and South America, built to honor the Americas the way most fantasy honors medieval Europe. It's the setting for his debut series, Song of the Feathered Serpent — a story about a world on the edge of war, and the people who have to decide what kind of person to be when the cost of doing right keeps going up.
Miguel writes in the nobledark tradition: dark stakes, real consequences, and characters worth rooting for even when — especially when — the odds are impossible. If you know Joe Abercrombie's edge, Tad Williams' scope, or George R.R. Martin's stakes, you'll recognize the shape of it. What's different is the world underneath it, and whose history is finally getting the epic treatment.
Miguel writes in the early mornings and on weekends, chasing the story down whenever he can get to it.
